Research summary
Human evidence for anagrelide is concentrated in patients with essential thrombocythemia, not healthy subjects. Across clinical studies, it consistently lowers platelet counts and can improve thrombocythemia-related risk markers, but this does not translate into evidence for general health benefits in healthy humans. Safety findings from human use show common adverse effects such as headache, palpitations, edema, fatigue, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal discomfort, with additional less common effects including visual changes, rash, and photosensitivity. Because the available literature is disease-treatment focused, there are no credible healthy-subject data supporting supplement-style benefits.
