Research summary
Scientific evidence from human studies, primarily randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses, indicates that nattokinase supplementation can modestly reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in healthy adults and those with elevated levels. Higher doses around 10,800 FU daily appear more effective for reducing arterial plaque size, triglycerides, and LDL cholesterol compared to lower doses, with benefits more pronounced in certain subgroups like obese or active individuals. While fibrinolytic and antithrombotic effects are supported, lipid improvements are inconsistent at lower doses, and overall evidence is promising but limited by small study numbers and calls for larger trials.
